Lovely week end get away, not far from Edinburgh. Set in beautiful counrtyside. Added bonus discovering Polish Map of Scotland. Hotel itself good, pool small but area clean and relaxing. Evening meal very good , well presented. Would return
Excellent food, one of the best pizza's I've ever had. Would definitely consider staying in hotel on my next trip. Easy walking distance to the famous Polish Map.
Meal was great. The suite we stayed in was massive. Floor boards a bit squeaky tho. Bathroom was lovely, if I'm being critical I would say the workmanship could be better.
Greeted warmly on arrival and assigned room 101.Shocked to find that the room had peeling and curling paper, on a wet (not damp) wall.Grubby toilet and bathroom. Carpet was dirty and threadbare.Receptionist didn't seem surprised to see us back at the desk, and assigned us another room,which, compared to the previous one, was acceptable.Neither room was up to Premier Inn / travel lodge standards.We had booked the stay, with dinner and breakfast, weeks in advance. We couldn't dine in the restaurant as it was fully booked. We were never advised of the need to book a table, even though our reservation included dinner. Had to eat in the bar, which had one person serving the 11 person queue.Food was very good indeed.Breakfast was also very nice.Spa was a bit strange. No privacy in changing area. Lockers were in corridor outside entrance to the pool.Towel had to be collected from reception.I was told that our rooms were undergoing "upgrading". I discovered that this excuse was offered up in January (10 months earlier).Should have checked reviews before I decided to stay there.Summary... Food really nice. BUT don't stay there.
Stayed here on a couple of different occasions and enjoyed our stay. The hotel is in a very attractive building, which is set in beautiful mature grounds. Its also dog friendly and obviously there are plenty of lovely walks to do. The staff were all pleasant and friendly. We will definitely go again in the future.
